Old Fashioned Rant
Recently, was playing the Imeryds Run fight (cheated and used Entangle. Meh).
Last dude down was a Barbarian-raging Lizard Man. Just before he died, he whipped across the map and spanked Pishella for 28hp damage: instant kill on the last monster attack [sigh]. Fruella was already dead cause she got swallowed by the behemoth frog and I forgot to stabilise her (I realised my error one round before and had just moved Ronald into position when she died. Oops.)
Anyways, I broke down the damage from the Lizard Man and found this:
PLUS TWENTY TWO STRENGTH BONUS??? Wtf is that? What, raging gives him the equivalent of 50+ strength? "Ooo look at me, I'm stronger than SAINT FUCKING CUTHBERT cause I raged".
Give me a break. Rage is all bonuses - since when do the monsters have to deal with the down side? They rage and spank you, and you either die or kill them. There is no down side for them, only for the party if THEY rage and then have to fight again afterwards.
Remind me to ban Rage from KotB. Come to think of it, St Cuthbert is banned too.

forgive me if I'm being a retard, but how is that possible? regular rage gives +4 str according to the srd. a barbie at lvl11 gets +6str 4 greater rage, and a mighty rage at 20 get u +8, but imeryd's lizardfolk aren't that high! were is the rest of it coming from? lizardfolk are strong (average 13) but not that fookin strong.
Well Iuz curiously does have a higher str than Cuthbert - well, his avatar who shows up does.
As for how it is possible - I have NO IDEA. I had a gnoll do +24 in the first floor of the Temple yesterday, something is screwy.
Ted I think it has something to do with multiple barbarians being entangled, I had the same thing happen to me with the moathouse bugbears. Something screwy is going on with the elexir of break free - it seems that it isn't removing the strength bonus after making the breakfree check (because they don't break free from entangle?).
If i had to make make a guess i would say Somehow this Lizard dude has 20 Str with a +6 from Greater Rage. He is wielding a 2-handed weapon which gives him a 1 1/2 Str bonus on damage rolls and is using Power Attack sacrificing 5 to his attack roll, and again since he is using a 2-handed weapon each point he sacrifices give him +2 to damage. SO...
26 Str yields a +8 Str bonus, 2 handed gives him +12 str dmg, and Power Attack -5 gives him +10 dmg.
1d10+12+10 = 6 + 22 = 28 dmg
