Irregular Webcomic, where-in getting sat on by a frog is a not-uncommon fate.

If I haven't mentioned this before, Irregular Webcomic is the inspiration for Kecik! Apart from the fact I am also a rabid Calvin and Hobbes fan (and an Australian) and a fan of latin, and lego, and trawling Wikipedia, and miniatures, and D&D, and Tolkein, and Star Wars... ok, everything about it except the physics - it was while reading Irregular Webcomic that I thought, "hey, this guy has no more artistic ability than I do! I could have made this comic!"

Thats when I decided to take the plunge and make Kecik! Not as funny, perhaps, but endlessly satisfying :-)

O and I will also mention that a guy I work with has an enormous stuffed green frog that gave me this idea, but I could never think of a way to get it over here to use (without appearing to take advantage of a guy in a wheelchair). Pity - it would have swamped Arianna and looked awesome.

Comical Lateness

I am currently doing my second consecutive 16-hour day, so I don't have quite as much time for the comic (or modding, or life) as I might like. I do have a few ideas up my sleeve though, and Yvy and I have plans to take some more photos tonight. I have also been working on a tutorial - most of the way through that.

Let me just say that Malaysia is a predominantly Muslim country, and I would love to live there.

Ewwww, this one didn't work at all! And even if it did, the joke is so obscure it'll take an hour to explain.

The punchline, such as it is, lies in the fact that Yvy has put the jacket on Arianna backwards. In Malaysia, people often wander arounds with jackets on backwards since the only real reason to wear a jacket in the tropical heat is if you are getting on a scooter (the most popular mode of transport) and when Malaysians ride their scooters, the frequently wear their jackets backwards. The reason for this is very clever - with it on backwards, the headwind blows the jacket onto you instead of off you. Brilliant, really. Think about it for a moment.

Of course in Oz, someone with a jacket on backwards would look ridiculous (no matter how clever). Hence my unimpressed visage in the comic.

I remember many years ago seeing an Asian student at university with his jacket on backwards. It looked so weird it stuck in my mind. He was probably Malaysian (they may do this in other countries to, particularly nearby Indonesia. I don't know).

O the opening pic is a random result of putting the word 'hurricane.jpg' through Google Image. Hope it doesn't offend anyone.

Arianna was born this year, the Year of the Pig. I was born 36 years ago, which being divisible by 12 is of course also a year of the pig. So was Yvy's sister for that matter (24 years ago). Hence we are piglets :-) or so says Yvy... she was born in the year of the horse, which imho makes her a big lembu jahat! :-P

And yes, I am well aware that halo's some crappy photoshopping. Some things I am good at, some I ain't.

*sigh* another continuity error - obviously this pic of me (where I still have my beard) predates yesterday's comic. Its actually one of the 'ridiculous' ones I refered to at THIS comic. I had been attempting to affect a big cheesy grin and instead came up with this abomination... the lengths (and depths...) I go to just to amuse you people.

I had something completely different in mind for this photo - a shot of me attacking the camera (possibly armed), cut to this shot of Kecik 'retaliating', then a third of Yvy telling us not to fight over the remote (or something) but I couldn't get the wording right. Then I noticed the beer in the corner of the shot and decided just to carry on with the 'drunk Kecik' theme. Drunken babies - who doesn't love them?

Woohoo, the big 5-0! Danno would be proud.
